今回で第十九回を向かえる視聴覚文化研究会では、写真史家ジェフリー・バッチェン氏を迎え、「Repetition and Difference: Dissemination of Photography」というタイトルでレクチャーを行います。加えて、レクチャーのサブタイトル「Dissemination of Photography」をキーワードとして、三つの研究発表も同時に行います。

ジェフリー・バッチェン（Geoffrey Batchen）氏経歴
写真史家。ニューヨーク市立大学教授。氏が企画した「Forget Me Not: Photography and Remembrance」展は2004 年のファン・ゴッホ美術館（アムステルダム）を皮切りに世界各地を巡回。著書・編著・論文に『Burning with Desire: The Conception of Photography』（The MIT Press, 1997）、『Each Wild Idea: Writing, Photography, History』（The MIT Press, 2001）、『William Henry Fox Talbot』（Phaidon, 2008）、「スナップ写真：美術史と民族誌的転回」（『photographers' gallery press』no.7, 2008）、『Photography Degree Zero: Reflections on Roland Barthes’s Camera Lucida』（The MIT Press, 2009）など他。代表作である『Burning with Desire』の邦訳が青弓社より2010 年春に刊行予定（『写真のアルケオロジー』前川修・佐藤守弘・岩城覚久訳）。
